Flowery Banner for August

I whipped up this flowery banner for the foyer, last night.

I kind of used my sunflower flag as my inspiration:

I think it's a happy banner !

Still workin' on my hexagonal stinker:

I've always got something on my hook !

The piles from this weeks hooking:

Slowly but surely.....

Oh and I'm working on a

GROW

It's not been a good flower year on Lavender Hill.  The summer goes back and forth from deluge to drought and from too cool temperatures to crazy heat waves.

Seems like none of my impatiens want to bloom.

I have a few individual blooms that are pretty but.....

even my usually gorgeous hydrangeas are punky.

This one can't decide what color to be:

I hung this off my porch:

Think they'll get the hint ?

New Hooky Goodness !

I'm never very far from my yarn and my hook.   I can't even imagine watching TV or a movie without something to do in my hands.
I've even been seen taking a hook and yarn to the movie theatre !

I got in a delicious box of yarn a couple of weeks ago - lots of yummy colors like PINK and LAVENDER of course !

I made two new stinkers in time for Monster's next cath
( August 8th in case you've got a second to say a quick prayer for no rejection!).

This one is for a great new young doc in the transplant clinic.  We actually have known him since transplant when he was a resident in the CCU.  He's single and told me that dark green was his favorite color:

This one is for one of Jacob's very favorite nurse practitioners in Dr. A's office.
This sweet girl has been with us since transplant and
is now expecting her first baby !
She has not divulged whether it's a boy or a girl
so I had to stick to the basics:

I put a ruffly border on since it was a baby stinker....

With those two finished I picked up work on the
As much as I love all the colors, it was just too wild for me,
so I toned it down a bit by adding
a row of white on each hexagon:

I still have a ways to go but I'm liking it much more with the white.  This is a fun way to use up my leftover scraps and something to keep me hooking in between larger gifty stinkers.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone !

A Single Lavender Bloom.....

My sweet and creative Daughter-in-law - AKA the Princess - had this ADORABLE pot made for me for Mother's Day this year :

In it she had a plant that she described as:
" I don't know, the picture was purple!"

Today I came down to the kitchen to find this:

One spectacularly beautiful flower:

Of the "I don't know, but it was purple" variety !!!!!

Thank you Princess - it is perfect ...
 just like you !

Pools Finally Open !

As things go, the pool is not really a priority anymore.  The kids barely go in and I think it's been about 5 years since I've dipped in myself.  But, I LOVE the way it looks when it's open, so cool and refreshing !

Mo finally got around this week to opening it.  It was GROSS and it took him forever to clean.  Seems no matter how spotless it is when we close it, the next year leaves and dirt somehow manage to sneak in under the cover:

It was finally done today.  Here's the view from my porch:

Ahhhhhhh, much better !

Even at night it looks pretty:

A Pink Saturday Vroooom, Vrooooom !

It's been just about five years since Monster got sick and our world turned upside down.  In that time I pretty much stopped driving, gave Mo my SUV and have stayed home with my boy.  It has been an honor.  But, now, it's been three years post transplant and I'm starting to dream about getting out and about again...
 and so has he !

Like I said, I gave Mo my SUV and J#2 has a Jeep.  We bought Monster a nifty van:
But, since he doesn't drive, it's more for one of us to take him places....

So I'm looking into:

a cool, street legal electric cart
or:

a two person ATV.

Both are something he can use himself to go into town
or to a friends house,
or heck, just get away from me !!!!

Sooooooo..... this leads me to the PINK part of this
  PINK SATURDAY post !

I'm thinking maybe it's time for ME to get a car again and try to rejoin the world.

How about these:

or "better" yet.... these:

 I'd even take this:

Seriously, I'm probably heading towards a Smart Car -
 lavender of course !
I don't plan on going anywhere in bad weather.
I'll never venture too far alone anyway.......

So maybe someday.......

The Back Porches

When we did the Monster addition, I wanted to make sure that the Monster had an outdoor space up on the third floor.  I figured if there was a day when he wasn't up to coming downstairs.  So there is a nice long porch with double french doors off the bedroom.

Of course, since we were adding fun things like back porches,
I wanted one too !   So, I have a very small one off
the master bedroom - you know for balance !

I admit I use mine much more than the twins use theirs:

My kindle and I take refuge up there when it gets too
hot to read on the front porch.

We're going to tackle painting them in a couple of weeks -
white with a purple floor of course, just like the front porch:

But before then, I realized it was time to cute-ify the porches !

So, I hung buckets with flowers:

And on my porch I added a cute little shelf - I needed a spot
for my glass when I was up there reading after all:

The lanterns are perfect for little battery operated
tea lights - I love how they twinkle at night !

Can't wait to see the back porches all painted and pretty -
like icing on the cake that is
The House on Lavender Hill !
